Tami has been in the business of organization, marketing and graphic design since starting her first business in 1993 at the age of 23. An entrepreneur by genetics, she left the freelance world in January of 2002 to join her mother’s real estate team as Director of Marketing and Concierge Services.
Tami holds the highly regarded Certified International Specialist (CIPS), Certified Luxury Home Marketing Specialist (CLHMS) and Certified Residential Specialist (CRS) designations, and is a certified continuing education instructor in several states around the country.
In addition to full time professional real estate services with the Simms Team, Tami is Lead Trainer for the Institute for Luxury Home Marketing, teaching their certification course around the country. A frequent keynote speaker, panelist and moderator, she has served in several national advisory roles within the real estate industry.
Born in Newport, Rhode Island, Tami spent many of her formative years in Tennessee before moving to St. Petersburg in 1986. She graduated from St. Petersburg High School shortly thereafter and received a bachelor’s degree in Visual Art from Eckerd College in 1992. After college, she was recruited by Stouffer Hotels & Resorts and helped to re-open the historic Vinoy Resort as downtown St. Petersburg embarked upon its renaissance. After a brief transfer to Baltimore’s Harborplace Hotel, she returned to St. Pete and started her first business as a professional organizer.
Her background as a luxury resort concierge resulted in the Team’s unique concierge program that takes client service to a new level in their Florida market. Tami is particularly adept at helping clients relocating to the St. Petersburg area get acquainted with their new community and engaged in activities that suit them.
Committed to community involvement, Tami has nearly two decades of non-profit board experience. She has specific experience in strategic planning, board governance, bylaws development and transition implementation. Tami ensures that volunteerism and good corporate citizenship are integral parts of her life, personally and professionally.
She serves as President of the St. Petersburg Downtown Business Association, Co-chairman of the City of St. Petersburg’s Urban Construction Best Practices Task Force and Treasurer of the Downtown Waterfront Parks Foundation among other civic activities. An active member of Business and Professional Women (BPW), she serves as President of the BPW/Florida’s Education Foundation, served as State President for BPW/FL and served two terms on the BPW/USA Board of Directors in addition to her local involvement.
